Newborn CARES

At AboutFace, we believe that early intervention is key to developing a strong family support system and acceptance of a new baby with a facial difference. Our Newborn CARES Program offers parents a three point program to help them: specialized information and resources; emotional support and understanding; and valuable parent-to-parent connections. Our goal is to help parents deal with, overcome and be successful during the first years of raising a child with a facial difference.

The Newborn CARES Program provides new parents with the opportunity to connect to a community of support so that:

  • They know that they are not alone;
  • They access current information and relevant resources to help them understand the issues and treatment plans related to their child's condition;
  • They develop effective strategies to help them cope with day-to-day challenges of going out in public, talking about their child's difference, and working effectively with the medical team.

The state of readiness of the parents will make a difference in how the child accepts their difference and how the world accepts the child.
