Community Events

Special events are a fun way to raise awareness of AboutFace in your community, school, workplace or organization. There are many ways that you can help raise funds for AboutFace. Event ideas range from theme parties, fashion shows, concerts and sporting events to barbeques, dinner dances, and golf tournaments with family, friends and colleagues.

2008 Events

The First Annual Leap of Faith for AboutFace was held on August 23rd. Eight participants from the Scotiabank MDM Team and Genworth Financial Canada joined forces to skydive in support of AboutFace. Together they helped to raise public awareness and over $20,000 for Camp Trailblazers. View photo gallery.

On June 5th, Tess Buckley and Eirinn Chisholm hosted a Poetry Recital at Clanmore Montessori School. Through the generosity of all the teachers, parents and children involved they raised $2,500 for AboutFace.

On May 21st, the Scotiabank Tour de Toronto North raised $57,500 for AboutFace! A team of 15 Scotiabank Managers from the North Toronto Region embarked on a two day 250-kilometre bicycle expedition to Orillia. Veteran cyclist Randy Pielsticker, an affected adult and AboutFace member, joined the ride to help raise awareness and funds. View photo gallery.

The Scotiabank Eastern Ontario Family Skate was held on February 28th. Families, friends and colleagues from the Ottawa region gathered to enjoy an evening of skating at the Scotiabank Centre and raise $6,000 for AboutFace.

The Bristow Family and AboutFace celebrated the launch of Making Faces: Logan's Cleft Lip and Palate Story on February 24th in Vancouver.

The Institute of Cosmetic & Laser Surgery hosted a Mardi Gras Evening to celebrate the opening of their Skin Spa on January 31. The generous support of all the staff, physicians and guests contributed $2,500 to AboutFace.
